I am a Shoe

I am a shoe

People put me on then take me off

Flip, flop I am off

I am a shoe

People wear me out

Trying to protect their foot

I am a shoe

People should thank me for protecting their foot

But instead they wear me out

Then throw me away

I am a Leaf

I blow in the wind

When I land I fly back up again

I am a leaf

I know how to live

I sometimes land in the rivers

And float around but I always get up

I shall live

And I will always get back up and fly again

In a stupid circus play

You look at me, but not at all ashamed

Who gets bounced every day

Wondering if I will get my way.

I am hit, kicked, all of the above

Am I ever going to be treated with love?

The swish of a net makes me feel quite fine

I don’t like to make people hurt and whine.

The breeze through my fabric

Makes a ball feel like a bird

Now I know treating a ball like a baby

Sounds quite absurd.

But now I have to make a way

To make sure people play.

I love the feel

of the warm summer day.

Being a woodchip

Getting stepped on all day long

No one is out here

Standing in the wind people pick my leaves

When they don’t know what situation I’m in

They take my leaves and there they go

Crack! Snap! In pieces like snow

I am a tree

All my leaves are gone

The little people picked them

I’m being drawn to a song that they are singing

Running and jumping at play and prancing away

My leaves grew back

It’s summer again and my leaves go CRACK!

It’s fall now my leaves are gone

Again they fell this time

And the little people are jumping in them

I have sharp claws

A long tail

Also spikes and wings

I will eat almost anything except sandwiches

Those are gross

And I like rats.
