The battle rages while we view,
Our flag must stay
We have asked of them to shoo
Some stay put while some make way

Dusk turns to dawn and war is on
Bodies lay motionless on people's lawn
Muskets on every porch
Houses set fire by a torch

Rampage comes along with storms
People are frightened and flee
Why is it so hard to see
We are always causing swarms ~ Mac


Bombs bursting in air with a red glare.
Men in fear, but the flag windy in air. ~ Kirk

Do You Wish?
Do you wish you were there on that happy morning?
Do you wish you were there to fight for your freedom?
Are you glad that America is now free? ~ Allie

The flag I love
Stood through the night
You could see it by
Dawn's early light

It gave proof through the night
That our beautiful cloud was still there
With the bomb holes and bullet holes
Our flag was still there
Standing for our freedom ~ Megan

The ware of the early United States
The war at sea was never fair
British took the men for their own
And our first ship was destroyed

The war on land burned Washington
The first lady saved documents
At the end, the flag still stood
And this is why we have a National Anthem ~ Genevieve

Why doth the war have to go on?
Why doth we have to break the bond?
Why doth all the mothers have to weep?
Why can't all of us go to sleep? ~ Scotty

My flag stays strong for me
So everyone can see
How bright my life is
And how free I can be

It was a dark and horrid night
Bombs were flying everywhere
Ships were sinking
They knew the U.S. were doing the best they could

While everyone was in a fight
And it was just a scene of fright

Men are risking their lives
Let's hope they aren't just be giant lies
Oh I hope this will end

Have you ever wanted to be there

She saved important papers

I wrote this poem to tell the nation
We are free to create our own stations
This place needs a leader
Not a dirty rotten cheater
This song
Helps us get along
Together we can make it a better place
It is not a mile long race ~ Madison

The flag is still standing
We will fight and be strong
We will keep expanding
You can see the light in their eyes

We will not tell lies
Many did die
So we are grateful
For the time

1814, what a horrible day but a great poem and Dolly Madison an inspiration of saying, "Will you believe it? Here I am within sound of a cannon!" Oh, Francis Scott just had to express his feelings with just a small poem but with lots of menaing. Each word meant a million other things and now a great symbol of now a great state. ~ Cambria

The scouts on the ground too weak to fight
And the flag still standing in the early night

A disaster happened and people think this is why
Someone fired a shot and made people die
The stars on the flag are still there
Seem bright in the night like a flare

The war was bad and it makes people sad
To know their families are gone
They're happy the war is over
That's what the flag represents
